Step 2:

  1. On Solano County Water Wise Gardening Website select "Garden Tours" from the Main menu.
  2. Look through the various gardens tours that interest you. To view more gardens, click the "next" button at the top.
  3. Click the blue "add" button at the top of the page to save specific gardens examples. You will use these later in the application process.
  4. Please choose 5 or more garden tour images that interest you. (Please note that by clicking the add button, it will only save the specific image you are on, not the entire garden tour).

  5. Next, go to the last garden tour named "Woodland Escape". After looking though the slideshow of images, find the code number at the bottom of the last image. Please enter the code here: [Required][Minimum number of characters not met]Invalid format.[Exceeded maximum number of characters]



Step 3:

  1. Go back to the Main menu and select the "Garden Gallery" tab. Here are some great examples of homes that look beautiful without the hassle and maintenance of having a lawn.
  2. Select the first category, "Lawn to Garden Examples" to see some examples specific to removing a lawn and replacing it with drought-tolerant species.
  3. There is a code number to the right of the caption name on one of the images, enter the code number: [Required][Minimum number of characters not met]Invalid format.[Exceeded maximum number of characters]
  4. Return to the "Garden Gallery" section to view other examples.
  5. For ones that interest you, click on the blue "add" button at the top of the page to save the images that appeal to you. Please add 5 or more garden gallery images. You will use these later in the application process.



Step 4:

  1. Go back to the Main menu and select "Plants". The first few plant categories are typical plant types.
  2. If you click the next button at the top of the page, you can find lawn substitutes, low water plants, native plants, wildlife attracting plants, and much more.
  3. Now click on "Plants for Lawn to Garden Program" on the first page. These plants require very little, if any, water and are great examples of what you can replace your water-intensive lawn with.
  4. On the last image of the "Plants for Lawn to Garden Program" category, there is a code. Please enter it here: [Required][Minimum number of characters not met]Invalid format.[Exceeded maximum number of characters]
  5. Return to the "Plant" section to look through other categories that interest you.
  6. When you find an interesting plant that you may want to use for your home’s garden, click the "add" button at the top of the page. Please add 10 or more plants that you are interested in.



Step 5:

  1. "Terms and Conditions": Please read through this document for the Terms and Conditions of this rebate program. These conditions must be followed in order to receive a rebate.

Step 6:

  1. Return to the Main Menu and click on the "My List" tab at the top of the page. This is where all of your added gardens and plants are stored.
  2. Find the "Plants" tab located below the main menu tab. This is all of the plants you have selected so far.
  3. Midway down the page, there is a link called "Plant List Report." Click on this link to generate a report and then print the reports and save it for the staff during your pre-inspection.
  4. The page should now display all of your selected plants and their descriptions.
  5. Next, click on the "Gardens" tab under the main menu tab. This is where all of the gardens that appeal to you are.
  6. Midway down the page, there is a button that says "Report." Click on this link to generate a report and then print the reports and save it for the staff during your pre-inspection.

Step 7:

  1. Please return to the Main Menu and find the "Resources" tab at the top of the page.
  2. Included here are some helpful links to help you design your beautiful landscape and irrigate your landscape properly. Look at any of these resources that interest you.

Step 8:

  1. Please return to the Main Menu and select the "Watering Guide" tab at the top of the page.
  2. Here are some helpful resources to help you irrigate properly. Please look through the tabs at the left for more information.
  3. The last tab is "Sample Irrigation Schedules." This page will help you schedule your irrigation system, specific to Solano County and depending on the time of year. This will save you a lot of water!!!

Step 9:

  1. Click on the "Check and Submit Answers" button!
  2. Please either email your plant and garden choices to solanocash4grass@scwa2.com or give them to the staff during your pre-inspection.
  3. Now you are finished with the application process!
  4. A Solano County employee will call you shortly to schedule your pre-inspection.
